This section of the web site is devoted to Sun Ship's "The Sun Dial" publication. The 8 original Sun Dial's were acquired from the Central Maintenance files by Dave Kavanagh during the 2004/2005 plant demolition project in making was for the Harrah's casino.The first edition was published on June 1, 1918 and our last copy is dated July, 1922. There is a wealth of early Sun Ship history in these publications and we hope you will enjoy reading them as they are posted.
For years we thought the Sun Dial was Sun Ship's first in-house publication, but as you will read in our first edition of the 'Sun Dial', the 'Sun Dial' was the successor to the 'Sun Log' "Which was born in obscurity and never ventured forth beyond the confines of the storeroom". A version of the 'Sun Ship Log' will reappear, decades later, around 1966, as the 'Sun Ship Log' .
